Jesus Living On The Inside

How can anyone describe
Jesus living inside you?
It’s like having a shower head
Inside your heart,
Continually spraying
Soothing, comforting,
Energizing, thrilling, and refreshing
Streams of joy, love, peace, faith, and hope
All through your emotions, your mind, and your soul.
Jesus put it this way: “Whoever believes in Me,
As the Scripture has said, rivers of living water
Will flow from within them.”

Jesus streaming inside of me
Won’t freely let me do my thing,
Or follow and exalt my own desires,
Or approve and applaud those who do,
Without shutting down His spiritual flow.
He rouses my conscience
And makes me deeply feel
My great need to obey Him,
No matter what my cravings say,
Or what people think about me,
Or how society seduces me
To abandon His commandments
And flaunt rebellious independence.
I must be true to Christ
And cannot deny His word
To please any person or group.

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
