Advice From Howler Monkeys

Daily writing prompt
What’s the most profound piece of advice you’ve been given? Did you take it?

Here’s a piece of advice I heard from howler monkeys. God put howler monkeys in tropical treetops to cry out like a mighty rushing wind. Their sound is a call to human beings to keep hunger and thirst (Matthew 5:6) for God’s kingdom (Matthew 6:33) ever burning (Matthew 3:11) in our heart. (2 Timothy 1:6)

Wake up to the inner sound of God the Holy Spirit, like a mighty rushing wind, calling you to fully surrender to the presence and power of “Christ in you the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:27) Wholly and humbly align your thoughts, feelings, desires, opinions, words, and behaviors with King Jesus as He proclaims good news to the poor, freedom for the prisoners, recovery of sight for the blind, and freedom for the oppressed. (Luke 4:14-21) Let the living Jesus empower you to be an ongoing proclaimer of the Lord’s favor and a never-ending demonstration of His compassion, mercy, and forgiveness. (1 Corinthians 2:4)

About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!
