The Salvation Army Flag is known as the Blood & Fire.  It’s not decor for a corps (a Salvation Army church); it’s for feet to walk a beat on the street praying and testifying to the glory of God. It’s a battle flag for spiritual warfare.  There’s no retreat!

The blood of Jesus brings us forgiveness and sets us free from our sins. The fire of the Holy Spirit gives us the passion and power to live a holy, Christ-like life in the service of God and others. Now we are called to show and tell what God has done. Let’s make a courageous act of spiritual warfare and carry the flag in our neighborhoods!

So who should take this spiritual battle flag to the streets?  Here’s a quote from The Salvation Army founder, William Booth:  ‘Not called!’ did you say? ‘Not heard the call,’ I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin.”

Someone told me that a speaker at the 2012 Salvation Army (USA South) Bible Conference at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina, pulled out a full-size Salvation Army Flag and wrapped himself with it the way athletes do with their national flag at the Olympics.  We get wrapped up in so many meaningless things.  Perhaps it’s time to get wrapped up in the Blood & Fire!

I found this quotation on several Salvation Army web sites and confirmation on Answers.com: “The Salvation Army flag is the only flag, other than the U.S. flag, to have flown on the moon.”  But has it flown on the streets in your neighborhood?  Why not?
