About Steve Simms

I like to look and think outside the box. In college I encountered Jesus Christ and I have been passionate about trying to get to know Him better ever since. My wife and I long to see the power and passion of the first Christ-followers come to life in our time. I have written a book about our experiences in non-traditional church, called, "Beyond Church: An Invitation To Experience The Lost Word Of The Bible--Ekklesia." If you need encouragement, search for: Elephants Encouraging The Room and/or check out my Amazon author page. Thank you!

When people share heart-felt words as moved by the Spirit, the atmosphere of the room is charged with the presence of God . . . Now that’s church!.

Church shouldn’t bore those who come near it; church should soar in the Spirit!

Church should soar in the Spirit; not bore those who come near it! Church shouldn’t be the same thing over and over (like the movie Groundhog Day). Church should be alive, vibrant, and thrilling! (Paul of Tarsus said: “Having a form … Continue reading →

Where Did Information Come From?

We are surrounded by information.  (Some people say that we are in an information explosion, but even uneducated tribal people are living in a world awash in information.) Every inanimate thing (although it might look as simple as a rock) … Continue reading →

Is The Church Trying To Teach People To Swim Without Letting Them Get Wet?

I heard a very good sermon today.  But while passively sitting and listening to the sermon, I began to think my own thoughts instead. I pondered to myself:  Which is more effective in changing lives —  studied and prepared sermons … Continue reading →
