My selfie (me, not a self-made pic of me) gets me in trouble
“Me” is a tiny word that can cause treMEndous problems. An effective way to make yourself unhappy is to go through life continually asking, “Am I happy now? A missionless life is often unhappy. If you really want to pursue … Continue reading

True worship: open hearts & radical honesty
–Wanted: “True Worshipers”– God is looking for open hearts and radical honesty. Now is the time to go beyond outward form and religious pretense — no pretending, no hiding! It’s time for heart-felt reality. “The hour comes, and now is, … Continue reading

Seeking self-satisfaction is an endless whirlpool of “me, my, and mine” — a downward spiral, swirling with discouragement, depression, and despair. The search for self-fulfillment is a misery making myth that sucks the life out of people, throwing them into a raging stream of self-sedation and mindless medication. The only rescue is the recovery of self-denial — passionately following a cause that is greater than self — losing yourself in serving others.

John Doe Ministries (Is that biblical?)
Why do some ministers (even some God-anointed preacher’s and teachers) name “ministries” for themselves? That common practice in modern-day independent ministry doesn’t appear to be biblical. I can’t find an “Apostle Paul Ministries” or a “Philip the Evangelist Ministries” or even a … Continue reading

To “Me” Or Not To “Me” — (Self-Focus Or Self-Denial)
To “me” or not to “me” — that is the question! Now I lay “me” down, For when the focus On “me” I keep, My soul stays Spiritually asleep “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take … Continue reading
Tattoos, Texting, Talk Radio, Polls, Piercings, Social Media, Reality TV & Other Self-Expression
In our contemporary culture of constant, clamoring self-expression (tattoos, texting, talk radio, opinion polls, piercings, social media, reality TV, etc.), there’s no reason Christ-followers shouldn’t courageously and continually express their faith in Christ! I LOVE JESUS! HE’S AWESOME! I WANT TO … Continue reading

Biblical Christianity / Following Christ
Following the living, resurrected Jesus Christ (biblical Christianity / Jesus’ command to: “Follow Me.”) is about: Self-surrender, not self-assertion; Self-control, not self-fulfillment; Self-denial, not self-righteousness; Self-restraint, not self-indulgence; Self-discipline, not self-destruction; Self-sacrifice, not self-importance; Self-effacement, not self-promotion; Self-regulation, not self-interest; … Continue reading
